About Bag It

June 26, 2006

The Bag It category is for anyone who wants to discuss ideas for future bag lunches, comments on past bag lunches, possible speakers, topics (technical or social) etc. One idea for just social bag lunches, is to just get together and watch some tv series in a room in the lab. Like 'The Office' just to get us out of our respective offices for a half hour with a possible laugh or two.

About Back to School

June 26, 2006

This post category is for all of us who are in school furthering our education while working. We can discuss class, professors, how a course worked out, getting support from your supervisor, going to school with a family, etc. or even getting started with going back to school such as taking the GRE. Even some of our training class comments can go here, they can also fit under the Moving on Up category as well.

YIP – the beginning

June 6, 2006

This blog was created to increase communication between young (junior) research professionals within the ITTL lab. Here you may post by creating a username on the wordpress website or post by using the anonymous user name.

Here you will find postings from other young lab professionals, links to websites of interest such as Steve Cross' blog, postings dealing with technical and social aspects of working here, a category on new technology (or what's new to you), a category on the personnel environment, career development, plus there is capabilities to post private password-protected messages as well.

On this site we can upload files such as links to our biosketches, conference papers, etc. You name it, we'll figure out a way to put it up.

We are also setting up an actual PHP/SQL Server Bulletin board on a server within the lab, however we wanted to keep this site separate to encourage communication with a feeling of anonymity.

If you have any suggestions for improving the site, different applications to use, categories to add, members to invite, please email me.

 Thanks and enjoy,

Sheila
